| Notes: | After the release of 'A Touch Of Excellence' and the various tours connected to this album, MH went into a longer period of isolation. Although having reached a very important level of recognition with this album, he found himself disencouraged with the artistic state of affairs and went into a process of re-connecting himself to his original musical needs and desires. After various workings with classical string quartets and other musicians, he received two major awards in the spring of 1995, first the Honoury Award of DJBFA (The Danish Association Of Composers) and then the very prestigious three-year grant from The National Fund for the Endowment of The Arts.
Finally having the means to record his next album without any hint of commercial compromise, he began working on the 'Random Hold' release, recording it solely on locations outside Copenhagen (such as a mansion in the country) during the summer of 1995, rather than in traditional recording studios. This process enabled him to focus entirely on the artistic aspects of the record which altogether made the album a much more personal record than its predecessor. Proclaimed as one of his finest works ever by the press, the release still stands as a trophy of accomplishment in terms of its musical and poetical beauty. Among other achievements it still figures on the list over the 50 most important releases in Danish rock in Politikens Rockleksikon (a Danish rock encyclopedia).
'Random Hold' was released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland the year after the Danish release. The album was also met with excellent reviews in these countries. |
